Maisie Adam is to host a stand-up show pilot for television in which comedians try to justify their most unpopular opinions, British Comedy Guide can exclusively reveal.

In Draw Fire, comics will compete in a stand-up battle to try to convince the audience that their most unpalatable views deserve to be shared.

Those attending the recording at the Pleasance Theatre in London on Valentine's Day will be judging the comedians' efforts via an app on their phone.

Producers say: "Will our comedians be funny enough to convert the great British public to their twisted way of thinking? Or will they fail miserably? Our money's on the latter."

BCG understands that the pilot is being made by Romesh Ranganathan's production company Ranga Bee, which, given its existing deals and ties with channels, suggests that if Draw Fire is picked up, the likely broadcasters will be Sky or the BBC.

Former So You Think You're Funny? winner Adam made her Royal Variety Performance debut last month. And in February she will be seen on Dave's revival of World's Most Dangerous Roads, driving up mountains in Morocco with Suzi Ruffell.

Last week it was announced that the Leeds United supporter will also be presenting a Radio 4 football-themed series, The Beautiful Game, ahead of the women's world cup in Australia and New Zealand this summer. And she is currently touring her stand-up show Buzzed around the UK until March 22.

Tickets for Draw Fire are available from SRO Audiences
