  • No Such Thing As The News is to return for a second series
  • The topical show is the first comedy from BBC News and Current Affairs since 1962's TW3
  • Series 2 will run for 8 weeks on BBC Two at 11:15pm, from Wednesday 12th October

No Such Thing As The News will return this autumn for a second series on BBC Two.

The first comedy commissioned by BBC News and Current Affairs since That Was The Week That Was in 1962, the show stars Dan Schreiber, Anna Ptaszynski, Andrew Hunter Murray and James Harkin.

The format sees the four hosts, who are also researchers for QI (known by Stephen Fry's affectionate nickname as 'The QI Elves'), telling each other the most interesting things they've discovered in the news that week. The series is a TV version of their popular QI spin-off podcast, No Such Thing As A Fish.

The BBC says: "No Such Thing As The News reports not (or not necessarily) on the most important stories of the week, only on the most interesting. The result is a riveting and often hilarious half-hour, packed with an astonishing amount of topical information. Not merely highly informative, NSTATN is also a welcome tonic - an optimistic and off-beat take on the wider world."

Recorded at London's Up The Creek comedy club in Greenwich, the second series will broadcast on Wednesday nights from 12th October for an eight-week run. It will be shown on BBC Two after flagship nightly current affairs programme, Newsnight, at 11:15pm. Tickets to the recordings will be made available soon.

New for Series 2, special bonus material will be streamed live on the BBC News Facebook page each week, offering a glimpse of behind-the-scenes and a chance for fans to get involved.
