House Of Fools, the TV show written by and starring Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, has ended.

A BBC spokesperson confirmed to Radio Times: "BBC Two and BBC Comedy would like to thank Vic, Bob, [producer] Lisa Clark and everyone else involved in making House Of Fools, but after two fantastically inventive series the show won't be returning."

The listings magazine points out the show was commissioned for a second series despite "disappointing" ratings for Series 1.

The comedy launched in January 2014 with an audience of 1.27 million viewers, but by the end of the run had dropped to 760,000 viewers. The second series, which was broadcast in February and March this year, started with just 660,000 viewers according to overnight figures released at the time.

The cast and crew already have a number of other projects in the pipeline: producer Lisa Clark was recently announced as the Executive Producer overseeing the new version of Top Gear for the BBC.

Meanwhile Matt Berry (Beef in House Of Fools) is working on another series of his Channel 4 sitcom Toast Of London; Daniel Simonsen (Erik) has filmed Sky Arts comedy Rotters; Morgana Robinson (Julie) is making the sketch show Morgana & Friends for the BBC; and Dan Skinner (Bosh) has a lead role in new BBC comedy drama The Kennedys.

Vic Reeves will next be seen as a blind man in the silent TV comedy Three Kinds Of Stupid, whilst Bob Mortimer has a number of panel show appearances lined up. Together.

The duo are also set to return to live touring. 25 Years of Reeves & Mortimer: The Poignant Moments will kick off in Glasgow in November.
