Series 1, Episode 1 - It Never Entered My Mind

Zoe Angell is young and confused about the processes of the divorce she's entering into. Going to solicitor Alec Callendar to handle her case, they find common interest in musical theatre, but each manages to put their proverbial foot in it.

Further details

Alec Callender seems to be having a normal day. He arrives at work and meets new secretary Hilary. His son Jamie arrives and confesses to murder (like he does almost every day) and the first client of the day arrives, a Mrs Zoë Angell...

Zoë has come to get a divorce from her husband Kevin who has been having an affair. Things do not go quite to plan as both make rather tactless remarks and Zoë ends up storming out angrily believing that Alec doesn't understand people with marital difficulties, after all he must be happily married.

A chance encounter with Jamie at the pub however soon makes her realise she is completely wrong. Alec is in fact a widower. His wife Jenny died six years ago after a long illness and Alec has been on his own ever since. Back at the office Miss Flood is becoming rather concerned about the way Miles Henty (Alec's partner) is behaving towards new girl Hilary, taking her out for lunch and being very suggestive. Alec bumps into Zoë on his way to work and they apologise to each other for the previous day. They head back to the office to resume their discussion. However there is a bit of a shock when Miles emerges from his office with his new client, Kevin's pregnant mistress. Zoë runs out again.
