How Fleabag's second series has surpassed its first

The first series of Fleabag was a sharply written comedy with an undercurrent of sadness, coming to a head in its final episode with an unexpected gut punch. This time around, Phoebe Waller-Bridge has managed to maintain the smart, acerbic humour of series 1 while injecting more emotional moments throughout - some of them so powerful they make you want to go back and rewatch episodes as soon as you've finished them.

Fleabag has caused a spike in G&T sales

Marks & Spencer reports that the show has sparked a 24% increase in sales of its own-brand gin and tonic cans after the drink featured in several episodes of the new series.

What makes the BBC's cult comedy Fleabag so watchable

Fleabag divides opinion like few other television dramas. Can we even decide if it is a tragedy or a comedy? Like life itself, perhaps the BBC show is a double helping of both, with a dollop of proper sauce on top.

Catastrophe and Fleabag look at Quaker meetings

Catastrophe and Fleabag have caught on to the comedic potential of the Quaker meeting. It's always nice to see your background reflected on-screen, but it's even better when it's shown as 'sexy'.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is the master of the monologue

Asides can sometimes feel a bit cheesy in comedy, but in Fleabag they're an insight into absurd tragedy.

How Fleabag altered the way women in comedy talk

In our weekly arts column, Fiona Sturges looks at how Phoebe Waller-Bridge has opened up a whole new dimension in storytelling and why, although critics are right to discuss the show's issues of class, sometimes there's just no arguing with genius.

Fiona Sturges, The Independent, 28th March 2019

Phoebe Waller-Bridge's fourth-wall-jabbing comedy reaches episode four, with Fleabag and the priest exchanging some of the show's strangest double entendres to date ("I think you've played with my guinea pig long enough!"). But will the pair get it on? A Quaker meeting and a J-Lo song help ratchet up the tension.

Fleabag is comedy as high, holy art

The latest episode of Phoebe Waller-Bridge's excoriating comedy was a devastating and intense display of grief.

Sitcoms won't fix gender imbalance, but they're a star

Two sharply observed comedies created and acted by women are rightly being lauded, says Lucy Sweet - but they only serve to highlight the lack of relatable female-driven TV shows.

Fleabag is helping out with an awards ceremony at Claire's work as Phoebe Waller-Bridge's excruciating comedy continues. She is serving canapes and trying really hard not to tell any jokes. So, an opportunity for some sisterly bonding? No, of course not. Instead, the episode's highlight is Fleabag chatting about the menopause over martinis with a guest-starring Kristin Scott Thomas. Although drinking G&T tinnies in the garden with the sexy priest definitely comes a close second.
