Bread: The Scripts

By Carla Lane

Carla Lane's touching and funny creation, Bread, is more than just situation comedy, and the small dramatic masterpieces in this volume are more than just scripts. They are rich and compelling literature crowded with some of the most memorable and vital characters to have appeared on the television screen. This book contains the first and the second series of Bread, taking the reader back to the early days of the Boswells. Joey, Mrs Boswell, Aveline and all the others have become the nation's best-known and most-loved family - and now they can be cherished in book form.

Carla Lane's career in television began when she created a remarkable one hundred episodes for The Liver Birds in 1969. She followed her success with Butterflies, Solo, The Mistress, The Last Song, and I Woke Up One Morning. Her latest comedy hit, Bread, has topped an audience of twenty million. She is an avid campaigner for animal rights. She has two sons and divides her time between London and her home town, Liverpool. Carla Lane was awarded the OBE in 1989.
