Handley, Diana Morrison and Joan Harben appeared in Gala Variety, part of a special evening's programming to mark Queen Mary's 80th birthday, aired on the Light Programme from 8:45 - 9:30pm on Friday 30th May 1947. It is not known precisely what their appearance consisted of, but it may have been a mini-ITMA sketch.
The series was brought to an abrupt and unplanned close after 311 episodes, when Tommy Handley died of a sudden cerebral haemorrhage on Sunday 9th January 1940. The news was broken at 5:30pm, immediately following the final repeat of what had proved to be the final episode.
