Developing Sitcoms

Here's a great panel discussion on the key topic of building sitcoms.

Script editor Andrew Ellard hosts the discussion. He's joined by Getting On actor and writer Vicki Pepperdine, Men Behaving Badly creator Simon Nye and comedy writer Tom Edge.

When this panel discussion took place (at The Big Comedy Conference 2014), Tom had just created Scrotal Recall. As he discusses in this recording, the title he chose impacted on the show's success in its first series. As we now know, the format went on to international success on Netflix, and has since been retitled Love Sick.

Aside from choosing your title carefully, our top panel also discuss character development, casting, managing notes, and more. Plus, what is it like to have your sitcom remade in America?
