Eddie Izzard has revealed she will soon change her name to Suzy Eddie Izzard.

The comedian announced the change at a recording of The Political Party podcast.

She said: "I'm gonna be Suzy Eddie Izzard. I'll put Suzy there and then Eddie and then people can choose what they want and no one can go wrong!"

The stand-up and political activist told host Matt Forde: "I've wanted to be S-U-Z-Y since I was ten. That's how I'm gonna roll so people can choose what they want, they can't make a mistake, they can't go wrong; I make mistakes with my own pronouns."

Forde also asked about her political ambitions, following her missing out on being selected to be a Labour MP for Sheffield.
She announced: "I will keep going until I get in", adding ""I'd still love to be an MP for Sheffield, anywhere up North. If there is a North/South divide - I wanna fight for the North."

She also confirmed she will largely give up comedy if elected to parliament, with a plan to only perform infrequently at fundraising gigs.
