Should Dapper Laughs be forgiven?

The lad's comic Daniel O'Reilly killed his on-stage persona after a sexism storm last year. But Dapper Laughs says he's changed. So can he prove he's a feminist - or even funny?

Is political correctness killing comedy & free speech?

As comedian Daniel O'Reilly (aka Dapper Laughs) once again finds himself vilified on-line and by the media it's timely to look at what "crime" he's actually committed to find himself subject to so much mirth. "Is political correctness killing comedy and free speech or have the standards of acceptability simply changed?"

Comedian Daniel O'Reilly sparked outrage when he was accused of making a joke about rape at one of his gigs last year.

Speaking to Stephen Nolan on BBC Radio 5 Live he said: "The most heartbreaking thing is the way they were writing about me in the media was stirring up such opinion from other rape crisis groups."

Dapper Laughs to make a movie

Dapper Laughs is to make his film debut, starring in a comedy-horror described as 'The Inbetweeners meets Lesbian Vampire Killers'. In Fanged Up, the controversial comic, real name Daniel O'Reilly, plays a wrongfully arrested man imprisoned in a high-security foreign prison just as it is overrun by sexy female vampires.

Al Murray: 'mob mentality' threatens free speech

Comedian Al Murray has criticised the "mob mentality" on social media for attacking free speech. Murray, known as his politically incorrect alter-ego the Pub Landlord, said people are "weaponising" their anger if they take offence at something in the public domain. He cited the example of Daniel O'Reilly, whose Dapper Laughs character attracted a slew of negative headlines after his content was deemed to be sexist and offensive.

Dapper Laughs, Oscar Wilde & 'buzz word' offensiveness

Daniel O'Reilly in his character (Is it a character?) of Dapper Laughs is the comedian who just keeps giving to journalists. He needs better PR advice. Or does he?

Dapper Laughs and the problems with sexist comedy

Following the cancellation of ITV's Dapper Laughs: On the Pull in November 2014, comedian Daniel O'Reilly seemed to vanish from the mainstream media, leaving many of us to hope that he had finally decided to shut up. The demise of the show and its creator has, admittedly, been written about at length, but when I saw O'Reilly back in the news this week (much to my disappointment), it got me thinking about sexism and comedy.
