12 Comedy Sketches In A Shed competition

12 Sketches In A London House

The online comedy series 12 Sketches In A Shed is now open for script entries into its script writing competition.

Three scripts will be selected to be professionally filmed, with the resultant episodes distributed on YouTube and other comedy sites as part of the forthcoming 12-part video series. Additionally, whichever of the three winning entries is judged the best by the public will receive a £300 cash prize.

This new opportunity follows on from 12 Sketches In A London House, the debut online series from creator Dan Tambling, which is currently being published online weekly. It sees each sketch set in a different room of a house. Watch

For Series 2, the production team have decided to boil the premise down to a single location. Tambling explains: "We thought restricting ourselves to 12 rooms in a real house was going to be a challenge, but now we want to up the ante and restrict ourselves even further. Now instead of 12 sketches in 12 rooms, it's just 12 sketches in just 1 room! Well... 1 'Shed' to be honest."

The key guidelines for writers are as follows:

- Writers should submit a sketch set in a shed (this could be outside, or even on top of, the shed).

- The sketch should feature a maximum of 5 speaking characters and the script must include a character that can be played by the show's core performer (Dan Tambling).

- The sketch should be no more than 3 minutes in length (this is usually around 3 pages of script).

- Scripts must be written using good script layout (e.g. formatted via CELTX, Final Draft or similar software), and submitted in PDF format.

There is a £5 entry fee per script to help fund the filming. You can opt to pay additional money to receive feedback. Full details on these options can be found on the competition's website.

The deadline to enter is 4th June 2016.
