I just read about that the other day, and I've been meaning to try it. I'll try to get my neighborhood grocery bar to stock it, so I can chat with the ladies at noon before heading off to work. Speaking of work, it would be fun to crack open a can at the office and pour it into a pint glass while I eat lunch.

I know some people who grew up with ladybugs instead of ladybirds so it's not necessarily an American only term. If that's what you were alluding to
They're interesting creatures to watch but then most bugs are fascinating to watch going about their business. I prefer to chuck them out because they would prefer to be outside in the fresh air. That and they seem a bit stupid. There, I've said it.
I can honestly say I have never ever heard anyone in the UK call them ladybugs
