I notice Gangs Of New York is on FilmFour tonight, I never saw that.

I must be the only person distinctly nonplussed by Blade Runner. Sure, looks great, but pretty empty and, IMO, boring.

:O x infinity.

This thread is really motivating me to get some films watched.

I notice Gangs Of New York is on FilmFour tonight, I never saw that.

Best recent Scorcese is The Departed.

Oh now you're talking! I'd forgotten that one! The Departed is fantastic. It should have been on my list. As should Little Miss Sunshine, while I remember.

And The Matrix. Although I wouldn't say that either of them look that great.

Which brings me to Harrison Ford

Witness is much his best film, but Mosquito Coast is also pretty good.

I love Mosquito Coast. It got me into the mighty Paul Theroux.

It's interesting that people aren't classifying Hollywood stuff as "foreign". I guess by foreign we actually mean "non-English language".

Either way, Downfall is flipping fantastic.

You may be the only person in the entire world who thinks that! :D

I don't mind The Matrix. I thought the concept of the first movie was so strong it nearly made it onto my list. The two sequels might well be the worst films ever made though.

Punch Drunk Love

The Third Man

I love the theme tune in The Third Man. Dooo dooo dooo duh dooo duh doo, DOO. Dooo dooo dooo duh dooo duh doo, DOO.

I don't think I've seen that. Ah well, at least I still have the joy of discovering some classics ahead of me.

I do like The Third Man though. Can't remember whether I liked it enough to put on my list.

Ah! Good point. I did, and it's on my list. A top film.

American Beauty is the inferior prequel to the marvelous 6 Feet Under.

Rather like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, was inferior to the TV series of the same name.

3rd Man is ace though, as is Angel's with Dirty Faces and the Big Lebowski.

No one else like The Warriors?

It was about gangs in New York long before Scorsese did his. Scorsese is great though Mean Streets, Taxi Driver and Raging Bull deserve mentions if they haven't already.

I liked the Warriors, but it is a very, very silly film.

Enjoyable mind.

Colors was a damn cool film.
