Material on file

I sent a sketch show script to Baby Cow and got this back:

"We don’t have a sketch show in the offing at the moment, but we have put your material on file in case the situation changes."

Is this good news or a nicer way of saying we've binned your shite script which we will never look at again?

Why don't you offer them a sketch show?

Thanks, but I've already been there.
:)

There's a BBC producer that I have been in contact with recently who says he has kept my details and scripts on file. I tend to believe him as contact went on steadily for some time and he seemed to offer some useful and considered ideas/suggestions. I think you should take it as a positive thing, why would a production company bother lieing, I'm sure they don't care about your feelings.

It sounds better than 'I put it in the bin' Laughing out loud

Only kidding I don't know what they do.

Lol I think I'd like that reply just for the comedy value

I've never had that one, I've only had 'It's not the kind of thing we wish to broadcast at this time' and 'I'll read it again if you change part A and get rid of part B etc'.

I think this is the equiv of 'we'll keep your application on file in case any job openings come up'

Although it is possible what they have done is make a note of your name as a quality writer for a future project,

I got the generic, "we don't need your stuff go away please"
