Political "arguments" on the "I read the news today Oh boy" thread.

Snide, smartarse anti government comments are predictably countered by Government supporters.

It just gets really boring. Don't rise to the bait.

Yep there's several threads on here that I'm not remotely interested in reading

So I ignore them

Oh, the irony.......................😏

I do try not to get involved but there comes a time when one can't simply ignore some of the nonsense posted on there. Maybe I shouldn't read the thread at all and carry on blissfully believing everyone has the same mindset as me (which would make the world a far better place of course).

So true Dave - it just becomes SO tiresome with the same three people each slapping their backs and/or ranting about stuff we all agree on i.e. all politicians are lying, cheating wasters.
Give it a rest for f**k's sake

Well, there you go - ignore them. The trouble is they won't think people are bored with it, and the problem will then be the silence indicates you are in agreement with them
Let's just hope one day they will go away

And there is one person on this forum who deliberately bates them, but their red mist clouds there vision, so they cannot see they are being wound up deliberately 😆

I deactivated facebook a few years ago and don't miss it in the slightest. The adverts and overall sneakyness was the reason and it was only going to get worse.

Right, serious question.
Recently my feed has been bombarded with filth. I didn't mind cos I just ignore it and I know that most blokes are animals and would rather use media to jerk off to rather than discuss anything worthwhile. But over the last week, these posts have been getting more and more frequent, and the disturbing thing is that a lot of these girls appear to be extremely young. I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had this problem, and how it can be solved. I've adjusted the settings but it ain't better - if anything, it's got worse.

I think I know the ads you mean but can't remember from where I saw them. It could have been facebook. They're short 20 second clips on rotation of girls who barely look 18 dancing around a pole or something similar. They're obviously over 18 or the ads would be highly illegal but it looks like the models have been selected specifically because they look much younger. All clothed in skimpy attire and designed to get the viewer to visit a website and probably pay to register. I don't go anywhere near porn sites they are the absolute worst when it comes to viruses.

I don't know how to fix it so I can't help but hopefully someone else can help.

Hope that helps,

A. Wanker

Don't you hate people on support forums that have 'hope that helps' as part of their signature and post stuff like that to every single query even when they have no idea what the solution is.

Sorry, I can't help.

No, it doesn't Wanker.

When I was using facebook I remember the ads had a little button you could click for options and one of them was "don't show me ads like this" so try that as it might stop them completely. If it doesn't you could take a screenshot of one of the ads and send it to facebook with a complaint that the models are covered up and you want to see some knockers.

There might be a report button for the ad which should have the same effect and stop them appearing on your feed. If all of that fails try deleting internet cookies. You don't need to delete history or passwords just the cookies. If that fails try deleting cookies and history but also with passwords deleted as well but excluding cookies. If all of that fails you could always try deleting history and cookies and passwords but making sure not to delete history or cookies while ensuring passwords remain deleted and once completed ensuring you repeat the process not once, not twice but thrice.

Hope that helps...

Thanks. Yeah, I don't think there's much you can do about it. As I said, no one's out to stop porn, but the age thing is very disturbing.
HTH

Equally disturbing is how the advertisers seem to be deliberately trying to circumvent adult content filters. If they're going to be flagrant about it at least do the decent thing and use grannies. No blurred lines to contend with and it tops up their pension pot so it's win-win.

Asking to see fewer such ads seems to've helped, as you sincerely hoped it would. Yeah, I'm not surprised porn is taking over the socials - bound to happen sooner or later - but I draw the line at pics of girls who look about twelve getting endless comments like 'Gorgeous... So pretty... I'll have both!!!!!!!!' Jesus.

Got a toothless grannie to blow me for free. What a sucker.

My FB page is sprinkled with these reels and short videos. I kept clicking on the 'show less of these' but they're back again next time I visit. Resigned to just scrolling past them now.

Some do and that kind of advertising can be a double edged sword. On one hand it's discreet, targeted marketing like banner ads about discounted lawnmowers to someone who has been searching online for cheap lawnmowers recently but it can also be viewed as invasive and an abusive use of tracking cookies such as browsing lawnmowers on Amazon and then getting suggestions for lawnmower fan groups on facebook.

:D For a few seconds I read it thinking it was referring to me specifically. I was like Moss from the IT Crowd.
