Top Ten American Sitcoms Ever Page 11

Here's ten great ones; not exactly my top ten as there are too many good ones to fit in:

Arrested Development
Seinfeld
Malcolm In The Middle
Friends
Party Down
30 Rock
Parks And Recreation
The Office
Better Off Ted
Everybody Loves Raymond

And here's another top ten of great shows:

Frasier
Newsradio
Cheers
Eastbound And Down
Community
Louie
The Simpsons
Modern Family
It's Always Sunny In Philidelphia
Curb Your Enthusiasm

In no particular order . .

Bilko
Taxi
Cheers
ALF
M*A*S*H

erm . . .

I'd struggle to finish a list as well. Am I biased against them? Probably. With the exception of MASH I find their production a bit loud and blousy, the way they are heavily commecialised and rattled out also puts me off. It's just a bit tasteless compared to our careful, respectful approach. I find.

Yes, BBC3 hasn't helped my argument, but certainly up till then.

1 Frasier
2 The Simpsons
3 The Big Bang Theory
4 The Office US
5 Spin City (Michael J Fox era)
6 King of the Hill
7 Futurama
8 The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
9 Scrubs
10 Malcolm in the Middle.

Probably should try some of the older shows though.

The sad thing is, most of these shows dropped off towards the end (or, int eh case of the Simpsons, seemingly to continue for all eternity) so I'm pretty much thinking about the best 50 or so episodes. British shows tend to know when to stop, or stop too early.

In no particular order:

MASH
The King Of Queens
Married With Cildren (season 1-4 or 5...after that it becomes crap)
The Simpsons
Malcolm In The Middle
Cheers
Happy Days
Seinfeld
ALF
The Cosby Show (the first few seasons after that it becomes too preachy)

Man, several people placing Curb higher than Seinfeld. Curb's great, but Seinfeld's the greatest sitcom of all time. To me at least.

I whole-heartedly agree! Seinfeld is so good on so many levels. Best sitcom ever.

Seinfeld is Curb without the uncomfortable cringiness.
So I prefer Seinfeld.

No particular order:
I Love Lucy
Big Bang Theory
Seinfield
Larry Sanders
The Phil Silvers Show
Curb your Enthusiasm
Lucky Louie
Always Sunny in Philedelphia
Its Garry Shandlings Show
Soap

I decided not to include animation in my list.

really?

Definitely. It's as good as sitcom gets.

Do you mean US, North American or of the Americas in general? If either of the latter two then it has to be:

1) Trailer Park Boys
2) Trailer Park Boys
3) Trailer Park Boys
4) Trailer Park Boys
5) Trailer Park Boys
6) Trailer Park Boys
7) Trailer Park Boys
8) Trailer Park Boys
9) Trailer Park Boys
10) The Drunk and on Drugs Happy Funtime Hour or possibly Trailer Park Boys.

If you mean solely US then something like

1) The Larry Sanders Show
2) Sledgehammer
3) Seinfeld
4) M*A*S*H
4) Sgt Bilko
5) The Munsters
6) Taxi
7) The Beverly Hillbillies
8) Mr Ed
9) Married with Children
10) either Mork and Mindy, the Dukes of Hazzard or The Waltons

I'd like to include Laurel & Hardy, Harold Lloyd, The Three Stooges etc but they aren't really sitcoms, though, are they? Likewise, the Hair Bear Bunch, Captain Caveman, Hong Kong Phooey, Duck Man and all those other cartoons, like Dallas.

What'chu talkin' 'bout, Willis? I forgot to mention Diff'rent Strokes!!!

Soup Nazi
Eduardo Corricho
Izzy Mandelbaum
Newman!
Fragile Frankie
Estell Costanza
Lloyd Braun
Dolores

The Phil Silvers Show

Car 54 Where Are You?

Cheers

Married with Children

Frasier

Friends

Seinfeld

Curb Your Enthusiasm

The Big Bang Theory (though I'm a little disappointed in what I've seen of series 5, so I may have to change this to Modern Family)

The Penguins of Madagascar
