:O Amazing info Dabutt, yes can understand in that temp; Crikey I wouldn't last 1 minute in heat. Do your freezers buzz all night?...and air-con? must cost plenty dollars?

There are few homes in this country without air conditioning. My house is about 3000 square feet and has 2 central air units (1 for each floor) and I think my worst monthly electricity bill has been about $220.

Note to Dellas - Americans mean prawns when they say shrimp.

No, prawns are bigger than shrimp.

The above site agrees with DaButt.

Surely "prawn" signifies freshwater forms of palaemonids and "shrimp" the marine penaeid?

:P

I was merely endeavouring to assist dellas and based my answer on years of visits to restaurants and supermarkets in the US. Ask for shrimp stateside and I guarantee you'll get the seafood formally known as prawns in the UK. (Prawns may vary in size.)

See links for menus which refer to shrimp when clearly they are prawns. http://www.olivegarden.com/menu/lunch/Shrimp-Primavera/755841-9999/

Before I click, are these links prawn-o-graphic?

Prawnography is shrimply degrading.

Laughing out loud

That tickles me - love a speech impediment.

Then the UK must be using the term improperly. Those are clearly shrimp in the links you posted.

P.S. Olive Garden? Sick

So, President Obama finally let his support for same-sex marriage out of the closet. Nice to see that he's finally come around to the evil Dick Cheney's views on the topic.

In fairness to Obama it's one of those topics where he can't win, not in the US. Yes, he's pussy footed around the issue but when you know that coming out on the sane side of the argument is going to lose you the entire bible belt. I wouldn't want to be a politician in the US.

As for Cheney, was surprised at that. He must run an equal opportunities Death Star.

Any single-issue voter who chooses his candidate based on their stance on gay marriage would never have voted for Obama in the first place.

The real elephant in the room is the fact that support for same-sex marriages is much lower among African-Americans. Something like 95% of them voted for Obama in 2008 and it's unlikely to be much different in 2012.

This is why I shouldn't talk about politics, particularly American politics. I'm not up to speed.

Carry on.
