I realise that there is a precedent to this but nonetheless I am absolutely appalled by the brutal murder of Alan Henning especially in such a barbaric manner. Everyone in the civilised world condemns it - what the hell are they trying to achieve? Don't know what else to say really - words fail me.

I have often wondered what the other Arab states are doing to combat this, but it seems from what I heard on the news that Saudi Arabia for example are basically financing these people as some sort of recompense for the guilt they feel for being so rich.

Well, that's rich for a nation that claims to be civilised - WFT is going on this world.

I didn't suggest that - I said for a nation that claims to be civilised.

I'm afraid that the family of this poor man were naive to suggest that our Government could do anything to prevent it. Obviously they had hoped but I'm afraid he never had a chance.
