I've never seen Coupling. I was always led to believe it was a comedy drama a bit like Cold Feet.

No, it was a sitcom a bit like Friends. And don't worry, you haven't missed anything.

Let's see...

Blackadder
Game On
Red Dwarf
Green Wing
The League of Gentlemen
The Office
Extras
Nightingales
Psychoville
Not Going Out
Peep Show
Hyperdrive

You've been reading the wrong websites. I've never seen Cold Feet, but Coupling is total sitcom, and bloody brilliant.

As everyone has been having a go;

Only Fools and Horses
The Royle Family
Vicar of Dibley
Gavin and Stacey
My Family
Men Behaving Badly
I'm Alan Partridge
Not Going Out
The Thick of It
Absolutely Fabulous
The Inbetweeners
Extras

Quite tough to pick just 12.

Dad's Army doesn't seem to be appearing much?

I keep meaning to watch Nightingales on YouTube (presuming it's on there). I only got a few glimpses of it when it was originally aired, and I get the impression I missed out on a good show.

You could do far worse than ordering the complete collection on DVD. Not even as much as £8.50 on Amazon right now.

Indeed.
*pauses*
I have seen Cold Feet, and Cold Feet is to Coupling as Newsround is to Newsnight.
That is they both have 'news' in them.

Try this clip for a beginner; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cYH0DhPaquc
FastForward to 5 minutes if you have a short attention span.

In no order and considring shows when they were in their prime:

Hancock's Half Hour
Porridge
Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads
Shelley
Yes Minister
Father Ted
Red Dwarf
Fawlty Towers
Only Falls and Horses
Rising Damp
Steptoe and Son
One Foot in the Grave

I am pained to leave out It Takes A Worried Man, dinnerladies, The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin, Outnumbered, Open All Hours and Last of the Summer Wine.

What is It Takes A Worried Man?

1981 sitcom: www.phill.co.uk/comedy/worried/

One of C4's earliest, if I remember right, and it was a very good sign of things to come, along with a Fairly Secret Army, about the same time. In fact the first year or two of C4 was TV heaven, if I recall. They repeated Budgie, showed a wadge of great British films and well, it's never been as good since.

ITAWM was a slightly unusual sitcom, I'd say along the line of Reggie Perrin a little bit, set in a corporate world environment. Its main character was unconventional, and had odd habits. Not too sure how he managed to keep his job but I think that's maybe where some of the comedy came in. I'd really like to see it again, as my memories of it are very patchy. Oh I'll look at the link he's put up now.

So that's who Phillip Roath is! Refers to other thread.

No particular order:

Still Game (Surprised no one has mentioned this one)
Early Doors
Peep Show
Coupling
I'm Alan Partridge
Spaced
Gavin and Stacey
IT Crowd
The Office
Extras
Inbetweeners
Fawlty Towers

The Royle Family
Early Doors
I'm Alan Partridge
Spaced
Gavin & Stacey
The Office
Red Dwarf
The Inbetweeners
Fawlty Towers
Pulling
The Thick Of It

Isn't Father Ted Irish? That's not part of the UK. Technicality. If it's allowed it's in, otherwise Red Dwarf (early years).

Father Ted was a Channel 4 series.
