Yes, there was a letter in the Weekend mag on Sunday, saying virtually the same thing, with her smugness and thinking she is funny, but I can only think it is not her idea and she is only doing what she is told - the so called "running gag" re Portillo is SO EFFIN' tiresome!! I whip through her spiel at the end, and just look to see if my name is in the titles. 😎

Caught it last night which is rare now, and her end of show twaddle seemed to have got even longer. She referenced complaints about it by saying it's needed to make up time to fill the schedule - which is utter rubbish as all they have to do is run the missing owls round longer. Or do less editing.

It's an undroppable trademark of the show that she must end it with unfunny twaddle and it gives VCM some kudos as the star presenter - that's how TV works. The walls seem to have got much easier than they were a year or two back or is it just me?

I've totally given up on this now. I really can't hack the "humour".

Contradicting my previous post I saw that there was a special last night. I remember seeing an extraordinary woman in it a while ago and wondered if she would in it as its theme was Fashion.

And lo and behold there was that vision again Lizzie Biscuits.

I think they should look at devising some new quiz elements to keep it fresh. It's done very well to gather a committed fanbase for so long but sometimes I tune in and think I've seen the same questions rolled out again or in a slightly different way. There must be some other clever abstract quiz ideas knocking around in their post graduate noggins.

And I've always thought the missing owls finale is too long, as some teams with a specialist or two at this have pulled off comebacks of ten points or more, which makes the whole quiz look unbalanced and a bit unfair after all the hard work of the leaders in the trickier rounds.

That's highly unlikely Alf, from my experience. They have a quite sophisticated database on every question, going back to the first programme (some fool, not on the OC edit team, spent hours doing it all - not me!), and if there is the merest hint of anything having been used before, it doesn't make the cut.

This has very annoyingly stopped me in my tracks in the past when I think I have come up with a cracker of a question!! 😠

Yes it was (it was a quarter final) and my Skybox recorded it ok.
