On this side of the ocean, smocks are something that little kids bring to school to wear during messy activities like painting. It's usually one of dad's old shirts.
Jumpers are little bits of wire or suicides, while only a woman would wear a top. And I'm going to blame Daisy Dukes on the British, since we don't have dukes or duchesses in our society.
