Quite possibly. I don't mean that his weight was never commented upon - we also live in a fattist society.
But a review of his performance would concentrate on his singing rather than his waistline.
"Unappealing" I can almost cope with, as that could refer to stage presence, charisma etc. "Stocky" is unacceptable.
