When Alf loses money on a horse because Mike couldn't get in the phone box to place the bet, he reluctantly agrees to having one installed in their home. After being wound up by Mike pretending to be the operator, he is further irritated when Else invites one of the neighbours round to call the hospital - and turns down his beloved TV!
