Costello goes on an underwhelming date, her hopes of feeling desirable after ten years on her own shuddering to an anti-climactic ending. Iris confides in Gloria about a problem at school, and Gloria decides to take matters into her own hands. After an unwelcome correspondence sends Costello reeling, Selby approaches her with a risky proposition.
