Death Valley to return for Series 2

- Timothy Spall and Gwyneth Keyworth are reportedly set to return for Series 2 of Death Valley
- Filming on the second series of the BBC's hit new murder mystery comedy drama will begin in Wales in September
The BBC has reportedly ordered a second series of Death Valley, its new murder mystery comedy drama.
TV Zone reports that the second series, yet to be announced by the broadcaster, will begin filming this September.
A BBC Studios Comedy Production starring Timothy Spall and Gwyneth Keyworth, Death Valley is a murder mystery series set and filmed in Wales, written and created by Paul Doolan.
The episodes follow the unlikely crime-solving partnership between eccentric national treasure John Chapel, a retired actor and star of hit fictional detective TV show Caesar, and disarming Welsh detective sergeant Janie Mallowan. Thrown together by the murder of John's neighbour, John and Janie have opposing instincts but, every week, they get to the bottom of another crime.
The show swiftly became a hit with viewers, with the opening episode achieving 2.9 million in overnight ratings, the largest audience for a new scripted BBC comedy in more than six years. It was also the largest audience for a new scripted comedy across any channel in more than five years, behind only Kate & Koji, which debuted to 5.2 million viewers on ITV on 18th March 2020.
All six episodes from the first series are already on BBC iPlayer. Meanwhile Episode 4 will premiere on BBC One this Sunday night.
