Sky has ordered a second series of The Reluctant Landlord - its new sitcom starring Romesh Ranganathan - before the first series has even begun broadcasting.

British Comedy Guide understands that the recommission, announced today, was made earlier in the Summer.

Series 1 of The Reluctant Landlord is due to begin on Sky One on the 30th October. The comedy, also written by Ranganathan and based partly on semi-autobiographical elements, focuses on the central character as he is left to run the local pub after his mischievous father left it to him in his will. He has never wanted to be a landlord but his mum feels it is the only way to keep his dad's legacy alive, and his wife and kids are having a ball there.

Starring Sian Gibson as his wife and Nick Helm as best mate, Lemon, Sky explains: "This semi-autobiographical sitcom follows Romesh's misadventures as he tries to offload the pub he doesn't want, while his family use any amount of emotional blackmail to keep him at the heart of the place."

Sky confirmed the news they've given the green light to a second series in a tweet:

Romesh Ranganathan is also currently starring in Sky's panel show A League Of Their Own, which continues tonight (Thursday 27th) at 9pm.

Yesterday tickets went on sale for his new 2019 tour, titled The Cynic's Mixtape.
