Details have been revealed about Frankie Boyle's new topical TV comedy show.

Frankie Boyle's New World Order, which is set to launch on BBC Two in June, will see the stand-up "tackle the week's biggest news stories."

Producers confirm: "Comedian Frankie Boyle returns to BBC Two with Frankie Boyle's New World Order, a brand new series that sees him tackle the week's biggest news stories in his own unique style.

"The show features Frankie at his brilliant best doing stand-up, review, discussion and audience interaction - all in an attempt to make sense of this confusing and complex world we live in.

"Each episode will see Frankie make two bold, and often outrageous, statements about the stories that have dominated the news in the past 7 days. Joining him on the show every week will be experts and guest comics who will take him to task over his controversial claims."

Whilst the BBC have yet to official announce the show, it was revealed last month that the Corporation had given Boyle a series. Speaking a launch, channel controller Patrick Holland revealed he had signed the Scottish comedian as part of a drive to make the channel "feel more contemporary".

Holland told the press: "If we're going to be making the channel feel more contemporary and more relevant, we want to be looking at the issues of the day and Frankie is one of those voices that does that. He's an extraordinarily strong voice and a very passionate voice. He has the ability to explore some of the issues of the day."

The former Mock The Week star has appeared sporadically on BBC Two in recent years, with the channel giving television broadcasts to Frankie Boyle's Autopsy, an occasional series of topical political specials made for BBC iPlayer.

Patrick Holland said: "Seeing Autopsy was one of the reasons I was so keen for Frankie to come back. But [the new show] is a different show from Autopsy. It is the kind of tone that Frankie will be able to achieve that I want to see on BBC Two."

Discussing the fact Frankie Boyle has proved controversial in the past, Holland commented last month: "I think it will be challenging viewing but it's important that voices like Frankie's are heard on BBC Two." He added: "If you're on the BBC there are BBC guidelines and the producers of the show know about that. Frankie is keen to be back on BBC Two."

Frankie Boyle's New World Order will be recorded in front of an audience on Wednesday nights, with the first episode set to be filmed on the 7th June. Dates have been booked at Pinewood Studios, with tickets now available. The application form says: "If you would like to join us to hear Frankie's unique and uncompromising view of the world, then apply now."

It is not yet clear which schedule slot Frankie Boyle's New World Order would occupy on television, but due to the topical nature of the show it's likely to be broadcast soon after recording. BBC Two also has Mock The Week coming back this June. The long-running panel show is set to start on Thursday 8th June at 10pm, as the polls close on the General Election.
