Romesh Ranganathan is releasing a Netflix documentary and has recorded a Rob And Romesh Vs special with the England football team ahead of the World Cup next month, British Comedy Guide can exclusively reveal.

The comic's debut Netflix special The Cynic drops on the streaming platform on November 29th and is accompanied by a behind-the-scenes film about the making of the show, similar to the documentary that accompanied the release of Russell Howard's special Lubricant last year.

As BCG revealed last month, Ranganathan recorded his The Cynic's Mixtape tour over three performances at his hometown gig at the Hawth Theatre in Crawley, focusing on how his kids wind him up and what it's like to be vegan.

The two-part Netflix release is the first of any of Ranganathan's specials to appear on the streaming platform, original or otherwise, and is the first released by a British stand-up since Ricky Gervais' SuperNature in May.

Last year Ranganathan appeared alongside Katherine Ryan, Mae Martin, London Hughes and a raft of US comics, plus a cast of puppets, for the one-off ensemble Netflix special Sex: Unzipped.

Meanwhile, Ranganathan and Rob Beckett have recorded a special episode of their Sky Max series, Rob And Romesh Vs The Three Lions, to coincide with next month's football tournament in Qatar. Airing on November 17, it was recorded at the St George's Park training facility in May.

The pair of Arsenal supporting comics were spotted by keen-eyed football journalist Dom Smith in the centre's car park.
