David Tennant has confirmed that there are no plans for a fourth series of Staged, the sitcom he stars in with Michael Sheen.

The star told The Sun: "We've had a wonderful time filming the series but have no plans to do more. It was a show borne out of a particular period of time - lockdown - when we were all in our houses communicating via Zoom, as our characters did in the show. We couldn't get out. Now, as the characters demonstrate in some of the scenes in the new series, we can."

Series 3 of the show, written by co-star Simon Evans, first shown on BritBox in November, is currently being broadcast on BBC One on Wednesday evenings.

A documentary featuring insight into how the show was conceived and showcasing some outtakes will also be broadcast at the end of the run.

It's a busy time for Tennant. Aside from Staged, he will also be on TV this week in a special episode of There She Goes, starring in drama series Litvinenko and narrating nature documentary Spy In The Ocean. Meanwhile his forthcoming roles include returning to Doctor Who and appearing alongside Sheen again in the second series of Good Omens, which launches on Amazon Prime at the end of July.
