8 reasons to watch the Sky Arts Halloween shorts

Sky Arts Halloween Comedy Shorts. Image shows from L to R: Ross Noble, Steen Raskopoulos, Jamie Demetriou, Kiri Pritchard-McLean, Guz Khan, Jayde Adams, Matthew Holness, Jason Manford

Ahead of Halloween, Sky Arts have made eight scary short comedies which feature a wealth of British comedy talent... and a lot of blood. They'll be on TV soon, but Sky customers can access the episodes on demand now (go to your Box Sets menu, or sign in to Sky Go).

Here's eight reasons you should check them out...

See a man turn into a car

Jamie Demetriou's Horror: Oh God. Mark / Phil (Jamie Demetriou)

Jamie Demetriou's super inventive offering - Oh God - focuses on a man who is turning into a car. It's very weird and unsettling, but brilliant too. You won't have seen anything like this on TV before.

Meet a great new character from Matt Holness

Matt Holness's Horror: Smutch. Oswin Thaddeus Tow (Matthew Holness)

Matt Holness created cult sitcom Garth Marenghi's Darkplace, for which we'll always love him. His new offering, Smutch, sees him playing a different writer: Oswin Thaddeus Tow, a pompous author who is blunt, rude and generally unpleasant. Despite how horrible he is, somehow you'll find yourself laughing at Tow's actions, and his need to urinate every few minutes. It's a great new character creation.

Be weirded out by Ross Noble's hair

Ross Noble's Horror: The Catchment. Campbell Bruce (Ross Noble)

See Ross Noble as you've never seen him before. The Catchment focuses on a couple looking to move near a good school, for the future benefit of their unborn children. There is a shock in store for the characters when they move in... but also viewers when they see that the stand-up star has significantly altered his trademark hairstyle to play this role.

Learn that not all ghosts are scary

Jayde Adams's Horror: Bloody Tracy. Bloody Tracy (Jayde Adams)

Bloody Tracy is from relative newcomer Jayde Adams. It focuses on a shop assistant who is brought back from the dead and ends up interacting with customers again. It's colourful, upbeat and full of chuckles, and a nice change from the usual images of ghosts.

Be charmed by Jason Manford

Jason Manford's Horror: That's The Spirit. Andy (Jason Manford)

Jason Manford's tale of two teenagers who play with a ouija board to contact the dead turns out to be less scary, more charming. You may even come away from watching That's The Spirit with a tear in the eye.

Try to work out whose number it is

Kiri Pritchard-McLean's Horror: I've Got Your Number. Kiri (Kiri Pritchard-McLean). Copyright: Tiger Aspect Productions

Kiri Pritchard-McLean's story - I've Got Your Number - is thoroughly modern, with her central character conversing with a mysterious stranger via text messages. You'll be wanting annoying office worker Karl (played superbly by Jordan Brookes) to die as soon as you meet him... but will you get your wish?

Discover the truth

Guz Khan's Horror: Frightbusters. Bongs (Guz Khan). Copyright: Me & You Productions

Rising star Guz Khan's latest TV offering is this, Frightbusters. This short focuses on two stoned conspiracy theorists who are perhaps closer to the truth than they realise. Keep watching as the credits roll to discover the worrying truth about our world.

Realise how important 5 stars are

Steen Raskopoulos's Horror: Scare BnB. Elliot (Steen Raskopoulos). Copyright: Me & You Productions

Steen Raskopoulos's short - Scare BnB - is about a haunted house for horror fans which secretly has the help of a couple of real ghosts (Nish Kumar, Susie Youssef) to ensure it properly scares people. However, when sceptic Eric arrives (played by Steen's Top Coppers co-star John Kearns), we learn just how far co-owner Babs (Sara Pascoe) will go to keep her 5 star internet rating.
