  • The episodes are available now

The BBC's digital download-to-own service, BBC Store, is today publishing a new collection, It's The Goodies!

Mixing satire, slapstick and sketch-like set-pieces, The Goodies, the hit sitcom running for nine series from 1970 to 1982, starred Bill Oddie, Graeme Garden and Tim Brooke-Taylor. The leading trio of characters would do "anything, anywhere, anytime", leading to many varied and often surreal adventures.

Moving to ITV for its final ninth series, the new collection marks 37 years since the trio's BBC run came to an end, on 18th February 1980, and includes six episodes that have not been available for viewers to buy before and may not have been seen by some fans since their original broadcasts more than 40 years ago.

The newly released episodes are The Greenies, The Loch Ness Monster, Winter Olympics, Black Magic, Clown Virus and Animals.

Also included are the famed award-winning episode Kitten Kong, and Kung Fu Kapers, notorious as having caused one viewer to die from laughing so hard whilst watching.

BBC Store notes: "The Goodies was one of the first shows in the UK to use pioneering camera trickery. Two of the trio's most famous comedy sequences played with different formats, both of which feature in It's The Goodies! on BBC Store. One is the award-winning episode The Movies, where they each attempt to make a film at the same time, which results in a film that sees them flow rapidly from movie to movie, breaking through frames and mixing up genres; and Kitten Kong, which sees a kitten named Twinkle grow to a gigantic size and terrorise London, tearing down the Post Office Tower (now the BT Tower)."

Aaron Bhamra, Head of Editorial at BBC Store, says: "It's The Goodies! is bursting with moments of comic genius and brilliant silliness and we are delighted to be able to make such a landmark in British television comedy available on BBC Store."

The Goodies also enjoyed number of chart topping hits in the mid-1970s, the majority of which were written and performed by Bill Oddie.

Episodes are priced £1.89 each and the entire collection costs £19.99. Details & Buy
