The BBC has been forced to pull a series of cartoons satirising Scottish politicians after a backlash on social media. BBC Radio Scotland had used an animated clip of Limo Lorna, a caricature of Lorna Slater, the Scottish Greens co-leader, to promote the new series of its radio comedy show Noising Up.

In the show's firing line is Green Party leader Lorna Slater who was dubbed the "minister for short-haul flights and maple syrup". The swipe was a savage dig at Ms Slater's Canadian heritage and her environmental credentials. And a Green party source has today blasted the broadcaster for being "borderline misogynistic" and endangering politicians.
