Fiona McDermott, Head of Comedy at Channel 4, is leaving the broadcaster for Apple TV+.

She will be reunited at the tech giant's streaming platform with her former C4 boss Jay Hunt.

Broadcast reports that she is leaving the TV network after five years as its Head of Comedy. She is likely to assume the equivalent role at Apple with some additional drama responsibilities, but the streamer has yet to make any announcement.

The London-based Apple TV+ commissioning team that she joins is overseen by Hunt, a former Controller of BBC One, who was Channel 4's Chief Creative Officer and appointed McDermott to her current role. McDermott has been at Channel 4 for almost twelve years in total.

C4's current CCO, Ian Katz, told the publication that Fiona McDermott leaves "a remarkable pipeline of brilliant new shows, which will ensure her fingerprints will be visible on the channel for years to come".

The rest of Channel 4's comedy commissioning team currently comprises Jack Bayles, Joe Hullait and Laura Riseam.

Channel 4 will celebrate its 40th birthday in November.
