Original comedy leads UKTV's 2019

UKTV this week announced that comedy was its most successful genre of 2019.

Reporting end-of-year growth of 4% on 2018, the broadcast network, which owns channels including Dave, Gold and W, named its highest performing original commissions from the year.

Of the top seven titles, five were comedies: Taskmaster (Dave), Dad's Army: The Lost Episodes (Gold), The Cockfields (Gold), Dial M For Middlesbrough (Gold), and Hypothetical (Dave, below).

Comedy took all four top slots.

Additionally, original commissions made up seven out of the top ten programmes broadcast across the whole network.
