A member asks: I'm a middle-aged white man. I'm not sure I'm any good at writing believable characters that are women, or characters from other backgrounds or age groups to my own. But I know I need to include such characters for my show to be interesting. I don't really want to share creative control with a co-writer, which would be the obvious solution. Can I 'learn' how to write other types of character myself?
