Red Dwarf XI, episode one review

As always with Dwarf, the jokes are a mix of the smart and the dumb, with quips about quantum mechanics tempered with daft jokes about Kryten's nipple attachments of banter aimed at the uptight Rimmer. Odds are, you already know if you like the Dwarf brand of humour or not, and this is unlikely to change minds either way, but the pace of the narrative keeps things interested.

Robert Llewellyn: Why is BBC2 ignoring Red Dwarf?

BBC Two is in the middle of a 50 year retrospective of it's greatest hits. So far one of their greatest hits stands out rather awkwardly for being totally ignored. It was on BBC Two for 10 years from 1988 to 1998. Anyway, now we're on Dave and it's much nicer.

Robert Llewellyn: Cast reunion picture

It often feels like only a few weeks ago that I first started working on Red Dwarf.
As this picture of the cast taken at a recent convention shows, I am merely experiencing a fluctuation in the time/space continuum.

Classic interview: Red Dwarf, April, 2006

It's not a sentence that you hear every day - "Excuse me, I must go and get rubberised" - except in certain Soho clubs. Or if you are visiting the Red Dwarf set at Shepperton Studios and talking to Robert Llewellyn, who plays the valet Kryten, the latex-faced mechanoid in the cult science-fiction sitcom.

Robert Llewellyn to star in Kickstarter-funded British sitcom

Audio comedy A Brief History Of Time Travel has become the first British sitcom project to be successfully financed via the Kickstarter crowd funding website.

British Comedy Guide, 22nd November 2012

The bad news is that Lister has lost the Starbug shuttlecraft in a card game to some hairy, genetically engineered life forms. The good news is he has also lost Rimmer. But the worst news is that these hirsute beasts have fastened a groinal exploder to Lister that will explode in 24 hours' time if he fails to deliver both ship and shipmate.

The threat of this knacker attacker is obviously the driving force of a smart, inventive episode, although special mention should go to Danny John-Jules (Cat) and Robert Llewellyn (Kryten) who, as a result of a "quantum entanglement", have to deliver their lines in perfect unison. It's quite a skill.

Did you know the Kryten make-up used to take five hours to apply, back when Robert Llewellyn first donned the mechanoid mask for Series III? They've got it down to just under an hour now...

I've just scrolled through the thousands of Tweets that came in over night, and the hundreds of comments on Google+. I'm very grateful and happy and will pass on the sentiment to the rest of the cast. If you liked the 1st one, you're going to love the rest.
