The Last Leg star Alex Brooker has been made a UNICEF UK High Profile Supporter to recognise "his unwavering support to the charity and commitment to protecting the rights of children around the world".

The charity explains: "Alex Brooker has supported The UK Committee for UNICEF (UNICEF UK) since 2022, when he took to the football pitch, joining other celebrities and ex-football professionals, to help raise funds for Soccer Aid for UNICEF. Alex made his debut as the game's first physically disabled player and inspired by the campaign, he returned for another kickabout in 2023 to learn more about UNICEF's work to create a better world for every child.

"Earlier this year, Alex visited a refugee camp in Jordan with UNICEF UK to see how funds raised from Soccer Aid for UNICEF can help children worldwide, giving them a childhood full of play. There, Alex met children at the camp who are physically disabled and supported by UNICEF, including 9-year-old Elan who Alex witnessed getting a new printed prosthetic hand fitted."

Speaking about his new role, Brooker says: "I'm so happy and proud to be given this title and continuing to work with UNICEF UK. From my time in Jordan, I've seen the real impact UNICEF has on the lives of children and I really admire the fact they're there for every child across the world.

"Being part of Soccer Aid for the past two years has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. Meeting Elan and Hamzeh in Za'atari refugee camp is something that will stay with me forever. I could relate to their experiences as young disabled people, but they've been through so much more than I did as refugees. It was a privilege to see how UNICEF projects are helping them and so many other children flourish. By protecting their rights, UNICEF gives children everywhere the chance to just be kids and that's something I'm honoured to be a part of."

UNICEF UK Chief Executive, Jon Sparkes, comments: "We're thrilled to have Alex on board as a High Profile Supporter to help us raise the diverse voices and experiences of children around the world and champion diversity and inclusion, which is top priority for us at UNICEF UK. It's so important, now more than ever, that we continue to protect and uphold the rights of all children and we're so grateful to Alex for his ongoing support to help us raise awareness."
