Preview - QI: Odorous and Odious

This is an fun episode as far as I'm concerned because you can see me in the audience, although I am wearing a mask for most of the time, as Alan sits among the audience in order to try and fool a sniffer dog. But I am behind him and my face is on for just a second.

The QI boxsets: a second pedantic look

In May 2017, I wrote a piece for On The Box about the first two QI boxsets, covering the first seven series. As I had heard from the show's researchers, the QI elves, that I was mentioned in these boxsets for my pedantry, I decided to cover them in a pedantic way. The O-centric 15th series of the wilfully esoteric panel perennial continues, this week rolling in the deep with an instalment devoted entirely to oceans. Quizmaster and commander Sandi Toksvig is joined by salty first mate Alan Davies and the rather lubberly crew of Aisling Bea, Joe Lycett and David Mitchell, all hoping to reveal some unexpected depths to their maritime knowledge. But do they know their oars from their ice floes?

We watch TV's smartest quiz, QI, being filmed

How did a bunch of Essex builders inspire the cleverest show on television? And why did John Lloyd, the creator of QI, come close to shutting the whole thing down last year?

How Edinburgh changed British comedy

Comedy did not feature at all when the Edinburgh Fringe began but over the past three decades it has become the "spiritual home" of Britain's funny folk.

When Creek satirised Sherlock & predicted its downfall

What was a cheeky dig from one mystery show to another turned out to be much more prophetic.
