Channel 4's on-demand platform All 4 is making Lee & Dean, a mockumentary sitcom series about two dodgy builders.

Created and performed by Miles Chapman and Mark O'Sullivan with Sam Underwood, five half hour episodes of the show have been ordered, for publication online later this year.

Channel 4 explain: "Lee & Dean is an improvised, unconventional and wholly original comedy set in Stevenage which centres around builder best mates Lee, played by Miles Chapman, and Dean, played by Mark O'Sullivan. It's a story of cheap builds, cheap lager, bark rubbing, break ups, and bad poetry, but at the heart of it lies the heart-warming bromance between Lee and Dean."

The semi-improvised series will follow Lee and Dean as they try to promote their company DeanLee. It will also star Sam Underwood as the cameraman documenting their work, with guest roles for Ramon Tikaram and Ricky Grover.

The series was ordered off the back of a pilot episode that Chapman, O'Sullivan and Underwood uploaded to YouTube in 2015. That can be watched here:

Miles Chapman and Mark O'Sullivan have recently served as writers on Morgana Robinson's The Agency. They have also worked with Channel 4 previously, making the character-based Flavours series for the network's Comedy Blaps strand.

Speaking about the new commission, the duo say: "We're cock-a-hoop that we've been given the opportunity to bring Lee & Dean to life for the channel that has produced so many of our favourite comedies. And if there's any chance we can get a City & Guilds in bricklaying out of it, it's a double win for us."

Rachel Springett, Commissioning Editor for Channel 4, adds: "We have been working with the talented writers and performers Mark and Miles from developments to Blaps and we're thrilled to now be making a full series Lee & Dean with them, set in the world of Stevenage builders. It will be a joy to watch the ensemble cast bring these brilliantly well-observed characters to life."

Lee & Dean will be on All 4 later this year.
