Open a 'Secret Door' with Barry Award nominee (Melbourne Comedy Festival) Asher Treleaven as he asks: 'what maketh the man? Is it the suit or something more fleshy?' Asher goes full on to tackle the question of what makes a man 'manly'? How do you measure masculinity in the modern world? Is it how you behave in public or what happens behind closed doors? Winner 'Critics' Choice Award', Melbourne Comedy Festival 2010. 'Cerebral, sublime and wonderful work from a comedian at the top of his game' ***** (Age, Melbourne); 'Tantalising moments of scintillating genius' (Chortle.co.uk).

After being twice nominated for The Barry Award, Melbourne Comedy Festival's most prestigious award and winning the Critics Choice Award this year, multi award winning comedian Asher Treleaven is making his much anticipated Edinburgh Festival Fringe solo debut with his latest show Secret Door.

Secret Door, sees Asher grappling with the question of what makes a man "manly." How does one measure masculinity in this modern world? Does the suit maketh the man or is it something more fleshy? Does it depend on how you behave in public or what goes on behind closed doors?

Trawling his own life experiences for material, Asher delights in blowing up clichés and exposing conventional wisdom for the eunuch it so often is. The private becomes public and the sacred, profane in this delightfully anarchic romp through the minefield of sexual identity.

Geek aficionado, book nerd and carnie come good; Asher is a comedian who defies classification. A regular at the Melbourne Comedy Festival, Treleaven has become one of the most unique comedians in Australia with his bizarre blend of physical comedy and stand up.

Asher is a graduate of the National Institute of Circus Arts in Australia and has been performing for over a decade. He was a principal cast member of La Clique for four years before launching a career as a comedian in 2006. Asher has been seen at the Edinburgh Fringe previously as Saxon McCallister co-host of Ali McGregor's Late Nite Variety Nite Nite and as part of Robin Ince's cultish Book Club (plus a national tour) and in Dublin at the Street Performance World Championships. Asher Treleaven is one of those truly rare creatures who effortlessly straddle the variety and stand up comedy genres.
