*wanders off to youtube to catch up on own cultural heritage*

Lead singer Ralf Hutter used to do a brilliant thing where he would refuse to let people ring him because the phone would be unwanted noise in the studio. So he took the ringer out, and if you wanted to call him you had to pre-arrange a time where he would be stood by the phone and would answer at the exact time.

Back to German. The only bits I can remember:

Mein name ist (my name is)
Krimskrams (nick-nacks, bits and bobs)
Cowgummi (chewing gum)
Taschenrechner (calculator)
Krankenwagen (ambulance)
Krankenhaus (hospital)

Can you translate this? http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=847Y_hGzvIU

The Germans were WAY ahead of the Japanese at that time.

Their Robots could play keyboards.

Back to German. The only bits I can remember:

Mein Name ist (my name is) (One would rather say "Ich heiße...", though.)
Krimskrams (nick-nacks, bits and bobs)
Kaugummi (chewing gum)

My terrible spelling . . . I learnt a bit of German at school, about 8 years ago though!

Badenzimmer - bathroom?
Apfel-zaft - apple juice?
Orangen-zaft - orange juice?

Good hello Fink.

Could you please translate the following?

"Nothing real can be threatened.
Nothing unreal exists.
Herein lays the peace of God."

"I am a perfect piece of eternal consciousness: perfectly equal and equally perfect to all other pieces of perfect eternal consciousness. There is nothing else alive anywhere except perfect eternal consciousness. I was never made or created. I have always existed and will always continue to do so. I play in mortal games because there is nothing else to do with eternity."

Cheers Fink!

Hellooo!

Nichts Wirkliches kann bedroht werden.
Nichts Unwirkliches existiert.

(That's the 'half a bottle of white wine' version)

Danke!

What about 'vorchsprung durch technik' from those Audi ads.

'vorsprung durch technik'

"Advantage through technology"

or

"Head start through technology"

:D Thanks!

Thanks for clearing that up Finck, wondered what the Audi adverts were on about.

An excuse for being late for school we were taught was:

Mein Hamster ist gestorben. (My hamster died)

Another useful phrase was: Mein bein tut weh (my leg hurts)

What's "Friends, Romans and countrymen, lend me your ears?"
