On the subject of Jolanta's main point, Aaron's right. There's a lot going on during the recording of a sitcom and visual gags like the one described will often fail to register.

Also, is Jolanta really suggesting that the Ludwig joke didn't get much response from the studio audience so Graham Linehan and Dylan Moran went back to the Black Book scripts and cut out all the jokes on memes, John Locke's Two Treatises of Government and Schrodinger's Cat? If she is, then she's as "hard of thinking" as all the people she once attacked for having the temerity to quite like Jonathon Ross.

I got one of the references in The Venture Brothers the other day.
