Sorry! Page 3

I just bought a video* box set of series 1 & 2 from a charity shop for 75p.

All I've got to do now is link up my video recorder and hope there's no creases in the tape.

* Yes I know!

I bought series 1 and 2 recently. One of my favourites of the eighties.

I loathed it, but possibly I over-identified with the namesake main character.

Sadly as I get older I identify with him more...

"Language, Timothy!"...

I never tired of hearing that at school.

:)

I bet!

I remember even as a lad thinking that Sorry! didn't quite work and still think that now. Yet, when I think about it, I liked Tim and his mum and dad as characters and it seemed to have good storylines in it. Hmmm, maybe I should stop thinking about it.

I still enjoy watching Sorry!. Yes it's a bit dated but still funny. Great theme tune.

Was there anything in the piece in Mitchell & Webb about David Mitchell playing Timothy Lumsden? If it was just made up for the programme I'd have expected a pay off later in the episode and there wasn't one.

As good as any place to post this I suppose.

I wrote some sketches for this! Woo!

(They didn't use them mind you. Boo.)

Wish I'd had the time to go.

Bad luck, Ronnie is class.

Take out all the 'spotted dick' jokes and you'd have a Harold Pinter play.

Or replace the spotted dick with soggy cornflakes.

I found Sorry! to be strangely compelling viewing when it was on. If I started watching it I wouldn't turn it off. This has always been the sign of a good sitcom for me. I'm not sure if Sorry! really was, or that I really liked it, more the fact I found it so odd and squirm making. We all like to squirm from time to time though, don't we. And I remember really marvelling at how bad an actor Corbett was, I think that was my main motivation for watching it. That and the cringe factor. Sorry! had a cringe factor of 9.

I have been meaning to buy this for so long. Tragi-comic in the truest sense.
