Very sad news. Loved Mrs Merton, in particular, and enjoyed The Royle Family. She was also great in The Fast Show.
RIP too, coincidentally, she was namechecked in Jon Ronson's book 'Frank', which I was listening to on Friday night. She formed part of Mr Sidebottom's comedy collective.
I was never a fan of The Royle Family, but loved 'Mrs Merton and Malcolm' and 'The Fast Show', with special reference to her teenage 'Janine' character.
