Post-punk band who weren't on my radar at the time. Only heard these guys for the first time today. Impressed.
Chappers, they've got a bit of Echo and the Bunnymen about them, without being clones. Or maybe you already know them?

I like Michael Nyman and have a couple of his soundtracks. His work with Peter Greenaway got him wider attention, and was how I first got to hear it.
Heard something the other day that sounded very Nymany on a pop/rock album, but can't remember now what it was.
I got interested in Nyman (and then looked into Greenaway films) after seeing The Piano.
MGV is a bit different from the film songs, I think. I found it many years ago as a bonus disc included with The Piano Concerto and discovered I liked it better. It sounds like he has Aaron Copeland's Rodeo(barf!) and Bill Conti's Right Stuff Mach I Theme (awesome, underrated!) in mind. Never quite got why the drumming at the end is deliberately out of sync with the rest of the music.
