Back on topic: Is there a Steeler's Wheel compilation you can recommend?

Thanks a lot.

'If I didn't Have You'...a wonderful Randy Newman song sung by Billy Crystal & John Goodman. Oh, and the film was good too.

NP...I know they went on to greater things, but this still gives me the most pleasure out of anything in their catalogue

It is by far their best record of the 'pre-rubber soul era' imo. Others of the first five albums had more spectacular singles but this is their most consistent set of songs (and every single one is self penned).

It's a transition album isn't it, from Merseybeat mop tops to legendary songwriters, this and Help! From realising they could write this well on here they got the confidence to make Rubber Soul, the gamechanger for them.

It's okay I'm in a pretentious mood because I missed my chance to critique The Beatles with wordy twaddle like the journos in the film who the fab 4 make fun of.

Not sure if I've already said it here but I always wanted someone, well Apple Cor to bring out Rubber Revolver, the perfect mash up album of the two records, which would be my ultimate Beatles album, or at least my 2nd favourite to the over listened to Blue Album, another mash up. It's funny, I've never been keen on mash, but I love a good mash up. Mer mer mer mer mash up.

The F1 coverage on BBC just used this over the closing titles.

Never heard of Avicii before and it's a weird video but I quite like the song . .

Apparently a DJ who campaigns against hunger and composed Sweden's 2013 entry for Eurovision with Abba. The song is one of the fastest selling in the UK this year.

Yes. I've spotted your Nick Drake and Randy Newman along the way. Am a big fan of both.

Decided to go early on the birthdays today. These are my last two ahead of Whispering God.

The first might appeal to nature lovers and the second to Henry the Good Sport and his psychedelic duck. Neither is dedicated to the ridiculously named John-Joe O'Toole, the biggest fly in my Saturday ointment.
