Not Going Out - Series 4 Page 12

Ooh, good point!

It looked a terrible porn film.

I very much recognised the male porn actor off of stuff.
(Not porn)

He wasn't buff enough to be a porn star.

Gah! Missed it again!

I'm pretty sure Lee ends every line with "and quick!".

Didn't like this one, the porn director was too OTT and the tone was quite nasty. Vine saved it.

I almost expect Lee to turn to the camera and wink every time he delivers a joke. I saw his explanation on Comic's Choice of how he wanted the show to be and he brought me round to the idea more. But I still think there are better ways to deliver fast-paced gags in a natural way. His example was Friends, which is a good example of my point too. It managed to weave the gags into the rest of the dialogue without losing pace and didn't feel shoehorned in, even with Chandler. If NGO could manage this, it would be so much easier to watch.

Why has this series gone all "edgy" and started covering "serious" subjects like drugs, porn and one night stands/unwanted pregnancy/absent fathers?

So far the subjects of this series have seemed a bit incongruous considering the general silliness of the show and whilst it's still been funny with the usual high standard of lines there's been something a little bit jarring about it in my mind.

Got to admit to being disappointed with this one- and yet still I laughing loads, which is more than can be said for a lot of sitcoms.

The previous series featured an (unwanted) pregnancy scare, immigration, an absent father, and a nuisance neighbour. Nothing too different about this series.

The first half was a little on the slow side, but in the last 10 minutes I laughed myself hoarse. Screaming lols. Very funny stuff, big thumbs up.

I thought the first episode of the current series was quite weak and seemed to be more "slapstick" than usual, but the proceeding episodes have been great.

Ooh, good point!

Did you see that too? I bet that wasn't his!

Is it just me or was the content of this last episode wildly inappropriate for 9.30 on a Friday night on BBC1?

I am sure it would have been possible to have constructed an episode centred around a porn shoot, without so explicitly labouring the BDSM aspect; while the bestiality reference at the end seemed a particularly desperate piece of escalation for comic effect.

You can get away with a lot without offending if you are clever; this kind of felt like naughty boys seeing what they could get away with.
