Curt, have you tied this? http://anchorfree.com/downloads/hotspot-shield/

I've used it before to watch shows from the US and websites like Hulu.

Thanks Leevil. Yea I have it on my computer and it doesn't work in the UK because it gives off a US IP address.
And I don't know if you've tried it on Hulu recently but it told me to turn off my IP blocker if I wanted to watch Hulu. Bastards!!

Well that's shit. It's a shame you can't access an iPlayer through BBCA. I haven't tried Hulu for ages, torrentz have beome quite efficient lately.

Praise Torrents!!!! Hallelujah!

To be fair to the BBC, they do have one massive website to keep up-to-date and working... but, yes, the search function is terrible!

Still, as long as there is the iPlayer I'm happy.

Suddenly, without me doing anything, all of the surplus modules have gone, and I'm just getting my normal settings, though it wasn't keen on showing any local news, so I removed the news, then re-added it and it seems to be back to normal.

I don't like it when things like this happen, it worries me. For all I know, trojans, worms and other dodgy things are running riot in the background. Not that the virus checker picks up anything, of course.

Look into getting a reliable VPN if you're torrenting.

And I have it on good authority that BBC people aren't exactly enamoured by the BBC website.

Pay $10 per month for a good Usenet host that does SSL and you have all the TV, movies, music, software and porn that you can handle, with very little risk of lawsuits or Hollywood ninjas barging through your windows in the dead of night.

No good here. Things are getting very, very scary.

Is the government getting involved? How can they determine the content of your traffic if it's encrypted?

I can't go into it in much detail because of how I found out about it, but there is some really scary, really advanced tracking going on. It's already in place on torrent protocols and in advanced stages for usenet. (Not to mention e-mail, web, etc.) I'm looking around quite urgently for a reliable, secure, heavily encrypted VPN.

The Government are in it up to their f**king necks, spurred on by pressure from the evil, EVIL record promotion companies. Not all ISPs have it totally in place yet, but it's coming.

Tracking in the name of national security/defence doesn't bother me at all. Tracking in the name of corporations with the intent of lawsuits bothers me greatly.

Oh this has bugger all to do with security. Since when do terrorists make money by distributing Shrek 3 for free on *insert torrent tracker here*? They would, of course, cite security as a reason for it if questioned, but it doesn't enter the equation in reality. I'm about as capitalist as they come, but this is pure, dangerous corporate greed.

Definitely. I assume Uncle Sam is snooping through Internet traffic in order to detect/track threats to the nation's security, but I'll be very angry if they ever sell out to media corporations.

This stuff is being developed by a British company, but if we've got it, I'll be shocked if you don't have an at-least-similar system. Even if the Government aren't directly handing the info over themselves, the ISPs will be.
