Favourite Basil Fawlty Quote Page 4

"I mean have you seen the people in room six? They've never even sat on chairs before"

(after Sybil asks if he is still here) "No, I went a couple of minutes ago, dear, but I expect I'll be back soon"

"He must be the bravest orang-utan in Britain...that type would wear a dog turd round its neck if it was made of gold"

"Easier to find a packet of sliced hippopotamus in suitcase sauce than a walnut in this bloody kitchen!"

'You wouldn't understand, dear... it's called "style"...'

Brahms' fourth racket!

Aw zooo, I'm heartened at how you've "come out" with your vintage comedy fan-ery recently. :)

'Have a nice day, dear....don't drive over any mines or anything...'

"Oh, James Robbins....I thought you meant that awfull James Robinson."

Harold Robbins. Whistling nnocently

Spoons Hey.

'Oh German! I thought there was something wrong with you.'
'Alright me old mucker.....YOU BASTARD!'
'I'm sorry, are you talking to me?'
'Why don't you talk properly?'

"yes my little nest of vipers"

"these chips are the wrong shape"
oh dear, what shape do you normally have? Mickey mouse shape? amphibious landing craft shape?.....smack in the mouth shape?
"he is rather highly strung".........."yes he should be"

"and these eggs taste like you laid them"

"thats not salad cream, thats puke that is"
"well, at least it's fresh puke"

I see that no one has mentioned the war...?

"You started it!"
"We did not start it!"
"Yes you did; you invaded Poland!"

Possibly the greatest exchange in sitcom history.

That is pure genius, it's comedy at its best. It's so unexpected and hits you between the eyes (perhaps not so much 'hits' as 'tickles') and IMHO this three lines of dialogue sums up what is so great and unforgetable about Fawlty Towers.

Am I bovvverred?

I like the one in Gourmet night when he starts hitting the car with a tree.
