NewsRevue again! Page 5

Cool :)

For those of us who can't make it to the venue, it would be cool if people posted their sketches used in the recent shows, so we can all get a "sneak preview" of NR.

treason running order this month

Any one fancy seeing my 3 skits bumped?

"Any one fancy seeing my 3 skits bumped?"

Yes :)

I didn't get anything into Treason.
Mark said that my sketches aren't quite what they're looking for.
(Same sketches I sent to NewsRevue)

I watched the sketch videos they have on the Treason website...
...must admit, the ONLY one I found that was funny was the Paddington and Windy Miller Casting sketch.

But I did learn from he Paddington sketch that they seem to favour more surreal sketches, or featuring famous people such as politicians in different locations, i.e. for example Gordon Brown NOT in Number 10, but perhaps on Big Brother.
....whereas NewsRevue like the famous people in their REAL locations, such as Gordon IN No.10, etc.
Hope you get what I mean.

Strangely enough he sent me a personal rejection letter with the heading 'Back to the Drawing Board'. Then obviously realising my innate genius sticks the old ladies in. Stwange indeed? Only 3 Soots? Burn out factor I reckon. You'll be down to voice over gags and hiding by the stage door for cigarette butts. Serve ya right.

The comments above do not reflect the opinion of Roscoff Enterprises and are mostly written by a delusional idiot.

I had nothing in last month.

I'm quixotic.

You had a double? Good stuff, and that old ladies skit is ace.

I've had a double before. The 4 Yorkshiremen Sketch but I just swapped a couple of things around. Then the bloody director of Newsrevue used the same format for a different sketch!

By the way Soots thanks for the tips about writers block. That was a very long couple of months. Now I get the papers and have a good rummage.

MikeyJ big problem is NR changes director every 6 weeks so they're always very flexible.

Treason has more it's own fixed style. Usually a little less crude (crude stuff still gets in but it has to be sharp).

The skits on the site are amongst the most succesful stuff they've done.

You should really see the show to get a feel.

Oh, sorry... yeah! That was good. (not just saying that) Forgot that one!
Yeah, the two guys in a "Dangerous Brothers" type format.
(or at least, that's how I saw it) :)

It was a bit of a bugger using 3rd bit of a sketch.

The Cameron ding dong one made me smile (a bit) at the first ding dong reference but nothing else on the Treason homepage made me laugh.
(sorry if any of those are anyone's sketches)
I didn't get that swan lake one at all.

Yeah, I live in Worthing, so I'm only about 10 miles from Brighton. I guess I'll go along to the Treason September show. :)

As regards to crudity, that's where I've been going wrong. Where NR loves my foul-language ridden creations, I guess I should have edited them before sending to Treason.

Treason don't mind crudity but it has to be more germane to the plot.

And the only Maddy line I ever saw there was booed heavily.

The effing in my Gordon Ramsay Food Crisis sketch was germane to the plot. ;)
Thought they might have used that one, but no.

Both shows get 100s of skits a month.

Second guessing the decisions of the script editor won't make you happy.

A little off topic here but how do you get the running order for newsrevue? Do you have to join some kind of mailing list or what because they used one of my sketches and I never got it.

Cheers

Phone and e-mail them.

They're nice people but they're not a big operation so sometimes it gets forgotten.,

Thank you sir. I shall send them an email first thing.
